Armstrong Foils XPS Mk II A-Wing , All Sizes 2.0m - 6.5m
After two years in development, the new A-Wing XPS Mk II is here. Whether it’s next level wing surfing, freestyle, or the Wednesday night local race, it’s all in the cards with the A-Wing XPS Mk II. This evolution
of the A-Wing delivers greater stability and upwind speed along with the all new Dyna-Link handle system for seamless adjustability between carbon handles or a boom. It’s an industry leading blend of power, efficiency, and modularity.

8 KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM TESTING (BY NICK)
- Upwind Performance - Tested back-to-back with Blair Tuke: same size wings, same conditions. The Mk II pointed higher and held more power at tighter angles. A huge upgrade for anyone wanting better upwind drive.
- Reduced Span on Smaller Sizes - The 4.0 and below are completely reworked. The 3.0 Mk II is 20cm shorter tip-to-tip and 20cm longer in the strut. This adds huge control and eliminates tip catches in sketchy launches and high winds.
- Improved Flagging - The new lower-aspect shape sits effortlessly behind you while wave riding. It’s super neutral and a noticeable step up from the current 4.0 and below.
- The Boom Option - Total control. Better hang time. Easier one-handed riding. Better upwind attack = more pop. Have to paddle out through waves? When waiting to get up and on the board rodeo-style you can hold the boom with one hand and the board with the other to brace as waves hit you.
- Travel Friendly - Remove the handles and the wing packs small. Large Boom and handles weigh ~450g, and since they're interchangeable across sizes, you only need one set.
- Enhanced Stability - The Mk II offers even better wind range than the original. The new 5m holds solid in 20 knots with confidence.
- Choosing Your Size - Match to your current XPS. Because the Mk II is lower aspect, you may want to size up slightly if If you ride a 5.3, go 5.5. If it's mid-range, go down to the 5.0.
- Speed - The Mk II is faster. You’ll feel the forward pull and instant power band. The older XPS had glide, but this one launches.
WHY UPGRADE FROM YOUR CURRENT XPS?
- New Dyna-Link Carbon Handle System
- Handles now come included (unlike many brands)
- Optional Carbon Boom (NZD$210) includes a protective bag that stores wing + boom attached
- One boom/handle set works across multiple sizes
Handle /Boom Sizing Guide Choose a Boom HERE
Other Upgrades:
- No hardware needed – carbon towers lock into Dyneema loops under pressure
- Pistol-grip shaped carbon handles with EVA wrap for comfort and precision
- Oval-shaped shaft offers more ergonomic control than round booms
- Higher PSI strut = stiffer structure, better power transfer
- Mk I handles are still compatible but not expected to be preferred
BOOM VS HANDLES – WHAT YOU'LL NOTICE
Boom:
- More direct, stiffer, great for freestyle
- One-handed control
- Helps stiffen the strut in strong winds
- Same weight as handles.
Handles:
- Lighter for travel
- One set works across sizes
- Softer on shoulders
- Ideal for learning and navigating gusts
WHY CHOOSE ARMSTRONG OVER OTHER BRANDS?
- Same front flagging handle – stiff and wave-ready
- NZ’s best-selling wing = real support (repairs and spares within days)
- Stocked spare bladders for every size
- Trusted by elite riders like Peter Burling and Blair Tuke
- Backbone sponsor of NZ's foil community
- Dual bladder system = extra safety
- Comes with leash, spare battens, repair kit + tape (doubles as board repair tape)
- Lower aspect design improves strut stability and pre-launch balance
- Premium materials that last – Teijin D3 & DLE won’t burst in the sun
KEY HIGHLIGHTS

- Dyna-Link Handle System – tool-free and universal
- Power Batten – only on lightwind sizes
- Cross Panel Sail Design – more power, less distortion
- Pre-Twist Airframe – natural arm position, reduced fatigue
- Refined canopy with Teijin D3 Technoforce – crisp, durable, dialed
TRADE-IN OPTIONS FOR XPS MK II PRE-ORDERS
We are offering the following trade-in options for customers who pre-order the new XPS Mk II wing with a $1,000 deposit.
Maximum one trade in per one wing purchased. We are unable to trade other brands or foil items on Mk II wings.
This offer is designed so you're not left wing-less. If you can sell your current wing privately beforehand, we recommend doing so — you’ll likely receive more than our trade-in value. However, we understand some people prefer convenience, so we've made this option available.
People are currently getting around $800–$1,100 for second-hand XPS wings, but we expect this to drop once the Mk II is released.
This is a guaranteed trade-in credit that will be applied toward the balance of your XPS Mk II wing. The wing must be shipped to us for inspection before we release your Mk II.

TECH FEATURES
AIRFRAME
Setting the tone for performance.
Precisely engineered for stability and upwind speed, the XPS Mk II’s airframe gives it the bandwidth to work with real-world conditions that aren’t always ideal, so you can focus on your ride and let the wing do its thing.
Outline - Balanced and stable, yet super efficient.
- This airframe is now lower aspect for increased stability and smoother power delivery across the wind range, especially in the smaller sizes. Leading edge diameter and airfoil section are optimized for a blend of stability in gusts and speedy efficiency upwind, which is a win whether you’re sending airs like Cash Berzolla or working out the basics.
Pre Twist - Shaped for efficiency.
- Pre-twist in the airframe allows the XPS Mk II to achieve its optimal shape when riding, meaning a more efficient airfoil section when it matters. And the slight “double bend” in the strut contributes to efficiency upwind by setting up your arms at the best angle, further reducing muscle fatigue for a more comfortable ride.
Materials - Made for the real world.
- Sessions can really do a number on your wing over time, which is why we’ve chosen DLE 160 and 130 for the right amount of durability without sacrificing airframe performance.
CANOPY
The most advanced canopy on the market.
The XPS Mk II’s canopy is the most advanced wing canopy on the market. Teijin D3 Technoforce material laid up in the Cross Panel Sail design make for stunning performance with real-world durability.
XPS - Cross Panel Sail Design.
- Inspired from the performance sailing world and innovated by Armstrong in winging, the Cross Panel Sail (XPS) design provides an outstanding connected feel to the wing when riding. By arranging the individual canopy panels at specific angles that best suit load distribution across each panel, this panel layout greatly reduces sail distortion, improves frame rigidity, and packs in more power.
Windows - Safety without compromising performance.
- Clear TPU windows provide excellent horizontal visibility along the strut for added spacial awareness and safety. Our TPU is lightweight, exceptionally clear, and won’t yellow or crack over time.
Battens - Minimizing flutter.
- Removable carbon fiber trailing edge battens minimize canopy flutter and provide easy tuning for varying wind strengths.
Materials - Highly curated.
- We’ve chosen Teijin D3 Technoforce because it feels great in flight, maintains its tension over time, and limits wear to a minimum. DLE 130 reinforcement panels further protect the canopy and boost the wing’s longevity. Prior to assembly, we rigorously inspect each piece of canopy material to ensure only the very best selection makes it into our wings.
HANDLES
You’ve got options.
Dyna-Link is an interchangeable strut handle system for the A-Wing XPS. It allows you to choose separate handles or a boom, is quick and easy to assemble with zero hardware, and is pre-positioned so the wing is precisely balanced in flight.
Modular - The choice is yours.
- The A-Wing XPS Mk II is optionable with either newly designed carbon handles, a carbon boom, or Hybrid Carbon Handles. Handle and boom lengths scale S-M-L according to specific wing sizes. The new carbon handles and carbon boom both have a circular profile carbon core that’s made with the same tech that goes into our carbon foils. Overtop the carbon core is a textured EVA foam exterior that’s direct and precise yet comfortable for long sessions. The Hybrid Carbon Handles maintain the same flatter design and construction found on the first generation XPS, now integrated into the Dyna-Link system. Harness loops are stitched into the strut.
Dyna-Link - Less is more.
- The Dyna-Link design is strong, simple, and highly functional without any added fluff. It lacks added wear points like tracks, hardware, or plastic and instead opts for carbon fiber handle towers that link to the strut by hooking into super strong Dyneema anchor loops. Attached or removed when the strut is deflated, the handles lock solidly into place once the strut inflates to pressure. Note: The Mk II’s strut is now a different pressure than the leading edge.
Placement - Optimally balanced.
- The Dyna-Link anchors are placed on the strut in the most balanced and efficient positions. No guesswork needed with infinite handle placement options. Anchor placement is tuned every 3 wing sizes to maintain consistent balance and feel across all the XPS Mk II wing sizes.
Grip - Performance is comfortable.
- The XPS Mk II handles and boom achieve a Goldilocks-like grip by way of a carbon fiber core wrapped in textured EVA. Just the right thickness for feedback and comfort for long sessions.
