Foil Drive Motor Systems let you customise where and how your motor sits on the mast, giving you control over power delivery, drag, and ride feel. At Underground Surf we stock the full range of Gen2 MAX and Slim motor options, including different cable lengths, pods, and mast adaptors to suit your setup.

Gen2 Motor Systems

Modular Design – cables are detachable at both ends (electronics box & motor), so you can swap cable lengths without changing the motor.
Motor Length Options – from 12cm/15cm slammed positions for instant lift, to 25cm mid-mast, up to 60cm & 70cm fuselage-level motors for flatwater foiling or learning.
Integrated Mast Options – Armstrong, Axis, Cedrus & other brand collaborations available for a drag-free, streamlined ride.
Universal Motor Pod & Mast Adaptors – fit most mast brands, with custom adaptors available if your mast falls outside the 90–150mm chord range.

Gen1 Motor Systems

Fixed 200cm motor cable (non-detachable).
Excess cable can be coiled when not in use.
Requires mast cable guides to reduce drag.
Still supported with spare parts and repairs.

Why Motor Systems Matter

Choosing the right motor system determines how much help you get getting onto foil and how much drag you carry once flying. Shorter lengths keep the motor close to the board for a “boost-only” feel, while deeper mounts provide more sustained assist for flatwater, downwind, or learning riders.
